Purpose
Bókhlaðan Íþaka is a school library and its purpose
is to provide students, teachers and other employees of the school access
to information and material needed for study, teaching and research.
Loans
The library is open Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 and the study
hall is open from 08:00 to 18:00. The library is open to all students,
teachers and other employees. Lending periods are from one day and up
to four weeks. Patrons do not have to pay for loans but they are responsible
for all borrowed material.
Computers
The library's collection is catalogued in Gegnir,
the national library system. In the library you can find books, magazines,
videos and DVDs, CDs, cassettes, vinyls and CD-ROMs.
In
the library there is one computer at the students disposal where they
can among other things surf the Internet and look up books in the library's
cataloguing system. There is a scanner and printer as well. Students also
have access to computers at the school's computer labs.
Photocopying
Students can make photocopies at the library. They are sold at a reasonable
price.
Study
hall
At Íþaka there is a study hall with seats for 30 people.
It is open Monday to Friday at 08:00 - 18:00. During exams it is open
longer and even at weekends. In the study hall dictionaries and other
reference books are kept and they are only to be used at the school.
